 FAQs

  • Each insole is equipped with a 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), which samples at 416 Hz. This allows us to measure the movement of each limp independently of the other to understand performance and asymmetry. Check out our tech specs for more info.

  • The following components are built into the platform:

    Smart Insoles

    Each kit contains a pair of sensor pods, an upload + charging station, and supportive EVA foam insoles of different sizes

    Customizable data views

    Customizable metric views, so you can see the information you want to see, or download it yourself. Reports are also available, if you’d like to share the information with the subjects.

    Education

    Onboarding resources, so you can easily train new researchers and students on data capture, as well as courses and webinars run by our applied scientists.

    Tech and Data Support

    Timely tech support and nerdy data scientists for you to bounce ideas, if you’d like.

  • Yes, you can download the raw, unfiltered data as a csv file.

  • The sensors sit in foam insoles that slide right into your subject’s shoe. Our insoles are ultra-thin (5mm) and lightweight (1.5g-3.5g), and come in sizes 5-18. They can be custom cut with scissors to optimize fit and comfort.

  • The sensors can collect for up to 5 hours before needing to be recharged.

    Data is stored locally on the pods during data collection, so you don’t need to worry about finicky wifi or bluetooth. It’s then uploaded securely to the Plantiga cloud through the dock and can be accessed via the web app.

  • No, as the data is stored locally, everything that you collected up until the pods died will still be there and will automatically upload the next time the pods are docked.

  • Yes, you can change the name, activity type, notes, and start and end times of any activity retroactively.

  • Our Applied Science Team will take you through an hour long onboarding, after which point you’ll be ready to use the system on your own. We also have resources to help with training of new researchers and students.

  • It usually takes about 1/4 of the time of the activity to upload the data (depending on wifi signal stability). So for a 2 minute walk test, the data will upload in ~30 sec.
