Vertical Landing Acceleration Asymmetry

A measure of the difference in Vertical Landing Acceleration between feet. High VLA asymmetry (>20%) occurs when landing more abruptly on one limb compared to the other. This can mean either poor impact absorption on one side, or a protective strategy to offload one side. High VLA and GCT asymmetry on the same side indicates compensatory shifting of loading demands away from the affected or weaker limb.

Asymmetry measures are best used in conjunction with a baseline for each individual, as every person has inherent asymmetries.
