Use Case: Troy Beauregard - Sport Scientist

As the Director of Sports Science for the Sudbury Five and a solo practitioner at VO2Peak, my journey with Plantiga has been transformative both for my athletes and for me personally. Efficiency and precision are critical when you’re doing it all yourself, and Plantiga has become one of the most powerful tools in my arsenal.

It began with Chloe Lacasse’s ACL recovery. Using Plantiga sensors, I tracked her asymmetries and progress remotely while she ran on an AlterG treadmill. This data-driven approach didn’t just guide her rehab but it gave her professional and national teams the confidence to allow much of her rehab to happen at home. Seeing that trust develop was a moment I’ll never forget.

That success led to integrating Plantiga into in-game monitoring for the Sudbury Five. The ability to track workload in real-time and adjust conditioning programs has been invaluable. But the impact didn’t stop there. Plantiga’s role in our game day warm-up protocols has been a game-changer. One athlete’s Reactive Strength Index improved from 2.46 to 2.87, with their jump height climbing from 13 to 19 inches all while maintaining consistent ground contact time. That’s the type of measurable impact that excites both the athletes and me.

As a solo practitioner, time is my most valuable resource. Plantiga allows me to streamline combine testing, running multiple assessments simultaneously which was something that used to be impossible.

And yes, turning 50 this year and spending almost 30 years in the industry has given me perspective. I’m incredibly grateful to still be contributing at a high level without needing to spend endless hours on the gym floor. Plantiga helps me deliver cutting-edge sports science in a sustainable way not just for my athletes, but for my career longevity.

I’m also deeply thankful to the Sudbury Five and the athletes I work with, who trust me and embrace technology that, at first, might feel like science fiction. Their openness fuels innovation and allows me to keep pushing the envelope.

Looking forward, I’m excited about expanding remote monitoring during the off-season, continuing to gamify athlete performance with initiatives like ‘Fast Fridays,’ and building on Project Game Speed to shape the next generation of athletes.

Plantiga isn’t just a tool in my toolbox, it’s part of my legacy, helping me extend my reach, support my athletes, and redefine what’s possible in sports science.
